Welcome to my blog, and my art journey

At the beginning of the summer, having not painted in a couple of years I picked up my brushes again. When I say painted in a couple of years, I mean over the last decade and a bit, I have sporadically started and failed to finish a piece every other year since I finished art college before starting university.

This time was different, purposeful, focussed and I actually finished! Golden Hour Minehead Harbour is the first piece I have properly completed since college, I had some lovely comments from friends and family and a couple of people asking if I was planning to sell my work.

For those who know me, putting myself out there isn't something that I do very often, but I read a quote which said something along the lines of 'your first attempt at something will always be embarrassing when you look back on it, but to have that feeling you have to start'. At a similar time, a friend who is training to become a life coach shared a goal setting task with me, typically I didn't complete the task, but I did go off at a tangent and spent the afternoon researching websites and how to market your art, about a month later, I launched my first ever website and dedicated social media!

With the launch, I posted about my first piece, Golden Hour and received a message asking if it was for sale, it was the best way to start and made it worthwhile straightaway, especially getting to wrap it up and hand deliver, my embarrassing start was not so bad after all!

Golden Hour, Minehead Harbour Original Acrylic on canvas sold approximately one week after I launched kateescott.co.uk and immediately from a reshared social media story in my network.
